The picture had turned to shadows.
The shadows had turned,
the shadows had burned,
into a mind that the shadows had earned.
Moved into a corner,
a corner of a corner
that the shadows had learned.
The picture of trees across an expanse of field. At night no picture is as light revealed.
At night no day is as day concealed.
The picture of a face of an effaced face
in a scratched out room from a scratched out place.
Screen flash and lightning splash, solids the memory
in soldering lines.
That tone of voice. This wordless noise.
It comes swimming on waves of peach.
Broken toys upon a beach.
