“I always draw before I start sculpting, because I enjoy creating whimsical worlds inhabited by odd creatures. I like to translate these drawings into sculptures that capture my imagination.”
Alison Ye is from China, and earned her BFA in ce- ramic from Sichuan Fine Art Instituter and her MFA in Sculpture from Academy of Art University. She is inspired by her own love stories and those of her friends. She creates playful characters in
clay or metal to play out those stories. At the 2015 annual Academy of Art Spring show she was awarded “Best in Show” for sculpture. In 2016 she received the Art and Perception/ Technical Merit Award at the National Student Juried Exhibition.
