Jaffke, an international fiber and mixed- media artist, was born and raised in Chicago and now resides in a small farm town in Alsace, France. She graduated with a BFA from the Chicago School of the Art Institute where she focused on textile design and fiber art. Upon graduation, she started a business producing hand-painted fabrics for clothing and home. In 1999 she was recruited as a participant in a gov- ernment grant designed to merge artists and designers into the world of computer programers and “new age technology”— namely the internet. She moved her cre- ative energy from her studio to the digital world, until 2013 when she moved to France and returned to the studio. In 2015, she participated in the launch of the Nicho- las Wilton Creative Visionary Program which exposed her to painting and the world of mixed media. Since then, she has returned to her first love, fiber and now uses it as her main medium. Her work has been exhibited in Chicago, Paris, Florence and Basel, and she has been awarded artist residencies in both the US and Italy.
