Smith’s award-winning textile installation “Swimming Upstream” has now traveled to the United Kingdom and across the United States. Smith was recipient of the prestigious Leigh Weimer’s Award and Grant in 2016, San Jose, California. Her work has been featured in Fiber Art Now & Craft America magazine and numerous books; is in the permanent collec- tion of San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles; and is in private collections around the United States. Smith’s textile art has been exhibited at many of the United Nations Headquarters around the globe, and twice at the Festival of Quilts, Birmingham, UK. In 2020 Smith curated and authored She Votes, a catalog featuring 113 original artworks by 64 artists, in celebra- tion of the 19th Amendment granting women the right to vote. In 2023, her textile “Water- spout” was awarded Honorable Mention for the Vinnie Ream Award by National League of American Pen Women, Washington, DC.
