Transience, impermanence, and imper- fection are basic tenets of Wabi-Sabi, the Japanese aesthetic which is charac- terized by the appreciation of the ingenuous integrity of natural objects and process.
Derived from his love of primitive antiques, Vollers has embraced this aesthetic using mostly found objects, which are often the detritus of our modern world.
