“When I began incorporating fabric, this process opened things up and led to the addition of
cut-out photos in my work. I added sunsets into the fold of the draw- ings which were now primarily loose charcoal—a radical departure from my earlier, more re ned drawings,
though one that still evoked the spirit of the medium. But it was with these mixed-media drawings that for the rst time I considered making straight collage pieces.”
