“In this work I created a landscape that I don’t physically have access
to. I did a still-shoot of myself in the
chair with the suitcase in water, in order to make the composite convincing. It’s interesting—when you’re blending real- ity and fantasy there are still rules. While I’m not trying to convince the viewer that what they are seeing is real, the compos- ite needs to be put together based on reality. So color, tone, contrast, light, and angle all need to be consistent for a com- posite to go together correctly.”
