“Over the course of my career as an artist, I have sought to
examine subjects that I find moving and mysterious.
Horses have formed the core of my inspiration. Having been raised on and later owning a cattle ranch with many horses around, I developed a love of painting, drawing, and sculpting them, and the other animals there. My first sculptures were formed from straw and then I moved on
to multiple kinds of feathers, ancient pottery shards, and old family letters. With all the various mediums, I hope to depict the evocative gestures of these animals as they play, work, and rest, mirroring our own in a universal language. It is that power I hope to capture in my work, articulat-
ing that even in a slight turn of a head, there is something compelling and full of possible narrative.”
