Wood had worked as a fashion photographer for many years, before he began incorpo- rating his own images into mixed media–one winter, he took one of his photographs and transformed it into a kind of “character,” to place on top of a textured background so that the collage resembled something similar to street art.
But something was missing. He had always been an avid comic book collector, and at one
time dreamed of becoming a comic-
book artist. He opened the box
that held all his childhood comic books and began to cut and collage them onto his mixed-media photogra-
phy pieces. Wood con- tinues to work in the world of commercial photography, but by using his own im-
ages and comics
to make these
collages, his
fashion pho-
tography has
evolved to a whole new innovative level, now including sculptural works.
