“Over the years, I have developed my own way of working based on medieval enameling techniques, the availability of enamel- ing supplies, and the contemporary work of the late Fred Ball. I
work in layers, pushing the enamel particles into place and then firing at ca.1500 degrees Fahrenheit. Most of my work is fired between six and fif- teen times. I fuse precious metal foils into the final layers. I try to use the interaction of the metal and the enamel through transparency and trans- lucency to achieve three-dimensional color.”
