 Social media let me communicate with lawyers and law students from around the world. A whole world of us going through a pandemic together, focusing on what makes us the same – our wants and needs, our fears and dreams, our worries and hopes. Though the pandemic isolated us, it paradoxically, brought us together.
Social Media
W hen the pandemic hit, I doubled down on phone usage - e-books, news, music, podcasts and yes, social media. I was active on Facebook and LinkedIn. I was also on Twitter and Instagram, but was a mere voyeur on those platforms, never posting, commenting or sharing. I had been posting daily on Facebook and LinkedIn since the summer of 2016, and when the pandemic hit, I started posting multiple
times on both.
On Facebook, I have four categories of posts. First, I share a daily Christian devotional called Our Daily Bread. Second, I share humorous posts, often memes. Third, I share items about something cool my wife, Ana, or one of our boys, David (22) or Michael (19) is doing. And fourth, I share items about the practice and items I’m doing in the practice. When the pandemic hit, I started posting humorous posts several times a day both for my own sanity and mental health and for others’ sanity and mental health. I went out of my way to search memes anywhere and everywhere on the internet – Someecards, Reddit, Twitter, Instagram, meme generators – and shared them regularly and often. Memes became my brand on Facebook. I often received
