 consisted of short, salient talks
of roughly 30 minutes covering resilience, insurance coverage, mindfulness, mediation tactics, etc. Then, we proceeded to our daily plenary sessions that included three distinct tracks focused on personal development, skills training, and emerging areas of law.
Steve Ganis’ and Daniel Herling’s “Silicon Valley Banking Collapse and its Long-Term Ripple Effect” kicked off the meeting. The finance duo educated the audience on
the recent SVB bank collapse, its impact on startup companies,
and the long-term ramifications it could have on the banking sector. Simultaneously, spouses and older children enjoyed Claire Parson’s great mindfulness three-part session aimed at improving focus, reducing stress, and increasing happiness. Later, we introduced
our first ever panel comprised solely of international members! Heather A. Sanderson, Christof Gaudig, and Clay S. Hunter shared their expertise on civil claims arising from economic warfare and sanctions. Day 1 was memorable for so many reasons.
The crowd returned on Tuesday
to witness “Get Ready to be Revolutionized with Legal Tech
and AI” and “How to Effectively Communicate After a Cyber Attack When the Attack Hits Your Law Firm and/or Client.” Both were amazing and interactive discussions! It is safe to say new technologies are changing the legal landscape and they will continue to do so. We
were extremely fortunate to have FDCC members Robert L. Christie, Stephen E. Embry, Sean C. Griffin, and from FDCC Headquarters, Rod Hughes, available to discuss these cutting-edge topics.
Wednesday featured a 5-person panel to talk about “Living Life Beyond Your Career.” Frank Ramos as moderator and his esteemed panelists offered great topics for those thinking about life after law. Rebecca Morrison followed that up with a segment on work happiness and later a second presentation at the “Professional Women’s Forum.” Thank you, Becky, for all your wonderful insights!
On our final day of programming, the anticipation ended as we
finally got to listen to the keynote presentation – Jermaine Hatten and Ned Currie’s “Coming Full Circle.” This one was a tearjerker. What a pleasure it was to listen to a heartwarming success story from Ned Currie and Jermaine. We strove to lift the hearts and minds of our members at the Broadmoor and Jermaine helped us accomplish that.
14 substantive presentations and
6 personal development sessions made for a jam-packed 4 days at the Broadmoor. All totaled, we had 30 FDCC members who contributed to the Broadmoor programming! We hope this meeting exceeded expectations. Our wish was for the discussions to provide you with a healthy dose of learning, positivity, and camaraderie— which is what makes members return year
over year. I look forward to the conventions ahead, and I hope to see you all in Toronto for the 2024 Annual Meeting.
