The FDCC returns to Charleston
for the 2025 Winter Meeting at
The Charleston Place Hotel, and
the convention team has worked very hard
to ensure you enjoy a spectacular meeting
filled with cutting edge legal knowledge and
plenty of opportunities for networking and
socializing in the luxurious environment that
FDCC members expect. Come for the thought-
provoking program; stay for the world class
cuisine and good times with your FDCC friends!
Heather and I are delighted to serve as your
Convention Chairs in this wonderful location,
and we have had the privilege of working with
FDCC President, Heidi Goebel and Program
Chairs, Patti and Dan McGrath, and the entire
convention team to create a meeting that has
something for everyone.
Although we are not lucky enough to reside
in Charleston, the city is very special to us.
Our affection for Charleston really began with
the FDCC Winter Meeting in 2017. I vividly
remember checking in to The Charleston
Place (nee` Belmond), and marveling at the
charm and elegance of the hotel. The ensuing
days and nights are a blur of happy events
from visiting the galleries and shops on King
Street, to eating the finest food imaginable,
and enjoying some memorable moments with
FDCC friends. Those memories include a late-
night karaoke session with Gen. Mike Neil
singing the Hank Williams standard “Hey Good
Looking,” (still the highlight of my notable
karaoke “career”), and an evening at a beautiful
downtown restaurant where a chef emerged
from the kitchen and wowed the assembled
crowd with a spontaneous operatic aria. I could
go on and on with these snapshots, but you
get the gist. In the ensuing years, we have
visited Charleston and the surrounding area
many times, and each one was a special event
“A Place for Everyone, at Charleston Place.”
