Rolling & Picking Up Steam
  as we adjust to a changing and unpredictable world. We jumped into the financial condition of the organization, particularly as regards recent meeting cancellations and re-bookings. ‘The State of the Union is good,’ as they say, thanks to some excellent work by Marty Bair, Martha, and Bernie Heinze, as well as Marc Young and Brett Preston on the Contract Committee.
Among many other topics, we focused on meeting site selection and the Strategic Plan. We talked about improving our site selection process, and renewed discussion
of just what we want our meetings to look and feel like. Should they be shorter or is the length just right, should we emphasize lower room rates or wow factor, where should we go? The Board has discussed these topics before but need to revisit them to ensure that we are delivering what our members want.
The Strategic Plan continues to be front and center of the
Board’s efforts. Bernie’s report on accomplishments to date made everyone feel good after a rough year. Looking to the future, we discussed developing an FDCC

Podcast channel (shout out to Frank Ramos, Bob and Mills),
our revamped and hopefully more coordinated approach to communications (Kile Turner and Frank, again), and revitalizing the State Representatives Program (Marc Harwell and Marc Young).
In this group I always hesitate to list the contributions of some, out of concern that others will be left out. I know that has happened (Marisa Trasatti for taking on
the awesome responsibility for
Member Recruitment, our new Board members, Lee Hall, Alison Christian, and Dan McGrath for jumping in and contributing right away, Bernie, Martha and their team for, well, everything they do..., my fellow officers, Mike Glascott, Bob Christie, and Craig Marvinney). But so many contribute to the success of our organization that it would be impossible not to miss someone.
So, there it is -- a peek inside your leadership. There is nothing better than collaborating with intelligent, talented, and passionate people – even on a Saturday. You can join this group of leaders. Get engaged, share your ideas, help make the FDCC better and stronger.
