FedLIFE’s webinar series has continued with an
interview with Rebecca Morrison, author of the Happiness Recipe. Rebecca spent an hour with us in November 2021 to help us identify the gaps that stifle our joy. The word of the day for March 30, 2022 is spuddle, a twentieth century word which means, “to work ineffectively; to be extremely busy whilst achieving nothing.” Ms. Morrison’s book provides great techniques for how to avoid the spuddle in our lives and more importantly, identify the reasons for it. Ms. Morrison provides actionable steps for closing the gaps and barriers to happiness and shares insight into how to align our lives with our true priorities. Rebecca is hilariously funny, insightful, authentic and relatable. Most importantly, she is a cousin to FedLIFE’s Co-Chair, Kile Turner. If you find yourself in a tangled mess, unable to accomplish your goals, log on to www.untanglehappiness. com or check out our webinar that is on the FDCC on Demand tab of the website.
Our in-person programming continued at the winter meeting with Dr. John Westerdahl, a board-certified lifestyle medicine

March 2022 marked FedLIFE’s second birthday. We are celebrating with a decidedly positive tone, in keeping with the theme of the recently held 2022 Winter Meeting in Palm Desert, CA: “The Best is Yet to Come.”
specialist who taught us how to make immediate, if aggressive, lifestyle changes to protect against aging and disease. Dr. Westerdahl provided compelling scientific evidence that a diet comprised primarily of plants is an effective barrier and protection to heart disease, cancer, diabetes and other lifestyle diseases. Significantly,
Dr. Westerdahl’s presentation marked FedLIFE’s first in-person program in the entire history of this committee!
If you have a skill, talent or have made a
life changing decision that has dramatically transformed either your physical or mental health, please consider sharing it with us.
FedLIFE is constantly evolving, and one direction is through the launch of its own podcast series titled “Your FedLIFE” which will feature short conversations with FDCC Members and perhaps others, who have dramatically transformed their lives or who have an interesting hobby or unique talent or skill. If you have a skill, talent or have made a life changing decision that has dramatically transformed either your physical or mental health, please consider sharing it with us.
FedLIFE’s offspring, FedCooks, continues to give us a seat at the table of FDCC celebrity chefs where
we have learned to reverse sear steaks and make beautiful and delicious Valentine treats with Jude and Lynne Ingram. The FedCooks’ events have transitioned from an escape from our collective isolation in 2020 to Emeril quality cooking lessons in 2022.
In addition, together with the Member Communications Committee, and the able guidance of Frank Ramos and Kile Turner, FedLIFE is tackling the delicate issue of our aging parents. In a collection of informative articles and personal narratives, the FDCC is publishing a resource manual to document our collective, acquired knowledge on this challenging topic and provide some comfort to members facing these challenges.
We plan to continue our live programming at the Winter 2023 Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee and hope to precent a seminar with Kate Hanley on how to be a better person. FedLIFE’s mission is to breathe life into FDCC’s goal of “being better people.” We also want our members to be better physically, mentally and hope
to serve as a continued resource to each other. As Frank Sinatra reminds us, “The best is yet to come!"
