privilege log woes, and the impact
of attorney advertising on potential
jury pools and verdicts. How
artificial intelligence is rapidly
disrupting the practice of law in
fields such as product liability,
intellectual property, privacy,
medical negligence, consumer
protection, and evidence was
addressed, along with third-party
litigation funding and the critical
ethical, conflict-of-interest, and
related concerns associated with
secret funding agreements. Other
panels discussed state courts and
challenges to corporate diversity
and inclusion efforts and why and
how judicial collegiality matters.
The prestige of the NFJE rises
every year as a testament to the
importance of its stated goals and
objectives. It is imperative that our
judiciary is informed of the tools
and education to support a robust,
independent and responsive
system of justice. I encourage
all of you to personally invite the
appellate judges from each of your
states to attend the NFJE Annual
Judicial Symposium next summer.
From personal experience, prior
attendees have expressed their
gratitude for making them aware
of the symposium, and the rare but
precious opportunities for judge-to-
judge interactions in a relaxed and
supportive environment.
Finally, amongst all of the
deserving causes that ask for
your financial donations, please
consider providing at least a small
contribution to the NFJE, which
can only do its work through the
donations of others. A heartfelt
thank you to each and every one of
you who has supported the NFJE.
