    WABL 3X3 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
After a covid driven hiatus in 2022, the WABL 3X3 club championships returned to Warwick Stadium in 2023. Now placed between the WABL grading tournament and the official season launch, WABL players were given the opportunity to continue their preparation and represent their association on the 3X3 platform in a highly competitive environment.
This one day only championship saw 67 teams across 13 associations competing for the perpetual trophy, with an additional U20s age group added in 2023 to better match the WABL format. An additional 2-Point shoot-out was added to the schedule, with 25 of WABL’s best 3-point shooters competing in a timed shooting competition from behind the arc for monetary prizes.
The prestigious event also offers country athletes the opportunity to compete at the advanced level while representing their region. 2023 saw participation from 4 regional teams representing the Great Southern, and 1 team representing the Pilbara. These teams had the additional opportunity of attending a 3X3 clinic the day before the tournament which helped them prepare.

Designed to provide interschool opportunities for year groups less likely to participate in regular high school competitions, the School Sport WA 3X3 tournament invites Year 7 and Year 10 school teams across the state to compete in the fast-paced basketball alternative.
To compete with the demand, 2023 saw the event split over two days resulting in an enormous 49% growth in participation from the previous year (151% growth from 2021). The whopping 532 participants across 27 High Schools were made up of 65% male and 35% female participants, a significant improvement on last year’s female participation numbers.
