Halloween in Bristol is Back, and It’s Time to Get Spooky!
By BRittany amalfi
Welcome to October, every- one! Fall is in full swing, and it’s time to get festive as Halloween approaches. Lucky for everyone, the Newfound area always has the community covered with the fun events the Tapply-Thomp- son Community Center puts on.
Halloween in Bristol will be held on 10/31 on North Main Street, kicking off with a cos- tume parade. The kids will start the parade over in the TD Bank parking lot heading through the square and then up to North Main to get the trunk or treat started! From 5-7 PM, friends and family can come and enjoy a fun night with decorated cars where kids can venture from each one to pick up some delicious candy. For anyone who can’t do Halloween at their home and still wants to participate in the night, the fire and police department will be collecting candy dona- tions. The fire department will also be handing out glow sticks to light up the spooky night! And
that’s not all; there will also be prizes given out for the best de- livery system and decorations for the trunk or treat. And don’t miss the Haunted Yard that the TTCC council will put on right at the community center itself. Halloween in Bristol is open to the whole public, and Les Dionn from the TTCC tells me it’s usu- ally a big event with having over 300 people coming in the past! It sounds like it’s a Halloween event no one should miss!
For anyone interested in using their car for a fun-filled night of trunk or treating, they can reg- ister either on the community website, at the community center, or at the town office.
The costume parade and trunk or treat isn’t the only thing to look forward to this month. Leading up the Halloween, there’s also Scarecrow’s in the Square and the TTCC Apple Festival! For the scarecrow dec- orating contest, entries should be in by October 7th, and make sure to get those entries in to
be eligible for the grand prize! Come show off your creative side by decorating a 4-6 feet tall scarecrow and show the town how unique a simple strawman can get. Participants can display their scarecrow on the common in Central Square, outside their homes, or outside of their busi- ness. Any scarecrows displayed in the square must have a tag with the creator’s name and contact information!
The Apple Festival will be held on Saturday, October 9th, with pick-up hours between 9 am and 12 pm with curbside order delivery. Come pick up some delicious baked goods like apple pies, apple crisps, bread, apple sauce, and much more to help fund raise for the TTCC! There will be an order form on their website, or interested folks can call right at 744-2713. The TTCC is also looking for volun- teers to help with apple peeling, and if anyone is interested, con- tact the community center to set up a time to come in.
There’s a lot to be excited about as the air gets cooler and the days get shorter. Don’t miss the TTCC’s fantastic events this month as the Newfound Com- munity prepares for a fun-filled
season. So grab a friend, grab your family, and head on down to Halloween in Bristol, where the night will be full of exciting events!
