nations for the patio. When Kay asked Lowe’s if they could help in anyway, they surprisingly gave him everything he needed. Pike Industries then pitched in to donate 23-tons of ledge pack to fill the area in front of the clubhouse.
On April 29th, dad Kevin Kay, a former Wentworth Po- lice Chief and Eagle Scout himself, got to work prepping the ground and spreading the ledge pack. The next day ev- eryone pitched in to install the fire pit, build the benches and get the job done. At the end of a long morning, Kay was fi- nally able to sit down and relax on one of the log benches they had crafted and enjoy the fruits of his labor.
“They’ve done a lot of fund- raisers for our school in the past and it’s fun to give back,” he said.
Grateful to Lowe’s, Pike In- dustries, his family, and every- one donated who came out to help him achieve his goal he, like Duchette, now looks for- ward to seeing others in Troop 56 achieve their goals, too.
Having been through that journey himself, Aidan’s fa- ther Kevin said, “It’s a lot of work over the years, a lot to go through to get to this point...it’s something that stays with you.”
Needless to say these projects will also stay with the people they benefitted for many years as well.

began the installation process for his project.
Duchette assisted them in those labors by prepping the ground and helping erect the new sign with all the brackets and screws necessary to hold it in place.
There was a lot to be done before the sign could be put in place on April 22 though. Once Duchette, now a fresh- man at Plymouth Regional High School, decided what his Eagle Scout project would be last spring, he began by meet- ing with PES Principal Tonia Orlando and other school of- ficials to get authorization and recommendations on the design they wanted for the new sign.
He still had to find a way to pay for the sign however, so Duchette set out on a fundrais- ing campaign that included a Kids Night Out event at PES. In the end, that and generous community supporters helped him raise the more than $1,500 needed for the project.
He then contacted Lincoln Sign Company with those ideas and the rest was Eagle Scout history.
Eight days later fellow Troop 56 Boy Scout Aidan Kay gath- ered his crew of scouts, friends and family to complete his final scouting award.
Like Duchette, he, too, sought a project that would be meaningful to his home- town of Wentworth. Now a junior at Plymouth Regional High School, Kay considered all that the Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club has done to support not only Wentworth Elementary School but the local fire department and the community as a whole. After attending their club meetings, he learned they had an outdoor patio and fire pit on their wish list and volunteered to create one for the club.
“Ever since Aidan came in to talk about a project here he’s been relentless about staying in touch with us to see what we wanted. He’s been very impres- sive,” said club president Keith Bousquet.

Joining him at the completion were Pemi-Baker School District officials Kyla Welch, Aimee Lee and Tonia Orlando, along with his parents Brooke and Jason Duchette. A week later his fellow scout Aidan Kay (right photo) celebrated his Eagle Scout project beside a special marker placed on site at Baker River Valley Snowmobile Club in Wentworth with Troop 56 Scout Master Clayton Norwood and his fellow scouting member Gabriel.
