nal Indian block prints but reworked in a fresher, clearer and more cont- emporary way. I felt that this style of decoration needed to be shown as a lifestyle – a concept that had very little meaning in the early seventies. And so I covered sofas, had cushions made, accessorised with ceramics and vintage furniture and so from there, the Designers Guild story began.
YOUR WORK IS FAMOUS ALL OVER THE WORLD. HOW DOES THAT FEEL?
Truly astonishing! And to be cele- brating our fiftieth year in 2020 – it hardly seems real! I feel extremely fortunate, especially given that I get to do what I love everyday.
WHAT DOES DESIGNERS GUILD MEAN TO YOU?
I am the Creative Director and Foun- der of Designers Guild; I head the studio, product development, photo- graphy and retail teams. Designers Guild is my passion – I live and bre- athe it and no day is quite the same. It means absolutely everything to me; it’s my way of life.
HOW WILL YOU DESCRIBE THE BRAND?
Originality, creativity, innovation, a focus on colour, pattern, and arti- stry have all been and continue to be, constant elements in our design pro- cess. The concept behind the business has always remained the same – to offer beautiful products for the home that are of the utmost quality and this is what I passionately strive for. At Designers Guild we have everything that you need to create your perfect home. We offer fabric, wallpaper and paint in a colour palette that extends from the more signature brights, through to cool, calm naturals and neutrals. As well as hundreds of de-
