The Ferris wheel stands still, only the gondolas still sway in the wind until it all falls apart. If you just close your eyes for a moment, you can almost hear the joyful shrieks of children who once indulged in the excitement here. You can nearly smell the scent of chlorine still in the air indu- cing the memories of burning eyes, but there is no more swishing water on these ageing slides.
