2. Resident-Staff Cookout
a-Another opportunity for building relationships and community, invite on duty staff to share in a monthly cookout, or more often if the budget allows. Staff and residents can plan the meal together, giving residents a chance to continue personal traditions and recipes. Staff and residents can prepare the meal together, although some residents’ participation may be limited by ability to simply sharing the smoky smell. The benefits are great!
b-Preparing to order limits waste while enhancing choice, so costs are not prohibitive, but may control the frequency of the event. Residents will eat more real food, reducing the need for supplements.
c-Follow standard sanitation procedures as usual observing for ants, bugs and animals. Prevent any accident hazards by monitoring residents around hot grills, etc.
d-Northome staff and residents share a monthly cookout, even
in the depths of a Minnesota winter. The administrator and maintenance man are the head chefs, each perfecting
special recipes for favorite foods. The menu and the stories always make the news in the Northome Record for friends from
near or far to read.
