Initiating Activities
IInitiating activities comes easy for some, but not for everyone. Some staff members may need the extra prompt of having time for activities – whether spontaneous or planned
– included on their list of assigned duties for each shift. What activities ultimately take place should be decided with residents. Planned activities are more likely to occur when, at the beginning of each shift, the staff team decides who will be responsible for carrying them out.
Community Learning Circle Questions
Staff members: how do you feel about initiating activities?
Residents: How could staff initiate activities with you?
What would you like someone to do with you?
