The Way to the Heart...Is a Pleasurable Dining Experience
An exercise
This exercise comes from Linda Bump’s Action Pact workshop Food for Thought. It helps householders and staff learn about each other and shape the dining experience in the household. This can be done as informal discussion, perhaps even asking just a question or two as conversation starters at mealtime. However, do tune in and jot down notes so you can incorporate preferences and ideas people express in the discussion into your daily life in the household.
(Whoever is leading the discussion, read the following)
We all love to eat. That late night snack, the first bite into an apple, the taste of a special salad or dessert! But even more, we enjoy eating with others. Whether a family meal,
a celebration or dinner with friends at our favorite restaurant. Let’s think about our dining pleasures and then we will talk about possibilities here.
(read each of the topics on the next page out loud, one every minute, and ask people to think about them, and jot notes if they care to. Or you could ask people to be in pairs or threes and ask that one person take notes for the little group.)
