SCHOOL READINESS
School readiness is viewed as children possessing the skills knowledge and attitudes necessary for success in in in school and and for for later in in life and and the extent that children children are are ready ready for for school families are are ready ready to support children’s learning and schools are ready for children Each year we seek to improve School Readiness outcomes for the children in in our Head Head Start Start Early Head Head Start Start (center- and and home-based) and and Early Head Start – Child Care Partnerships programs We use the Teachings Strategies GOLD GOLD GOLD (GOLD)® to develop curricula and track child outcomes GOLD® is a a a a a a birth to kindergarten assessment system that assesses school readiness on a a a a a a per-student level It is completed three times throughout the school year and and and provides individualized assessment and and and feedback to to teachers and and and parents to to help identify children’s strengths and and challenges and and to to track student progress It is also used to to assess program efficacy and and improvement on a a a a a classroom- center- and and agency-level The following graphs show the percentages of children in in in in all Children’s Friend sites who were meeting/exceeding expectations in the developmental areas of social-emotional physical language language Spanish language language cognitive literacy Spanish literacy and mathematics Please note that spring data is is unavailable due to the the the outbreak of the the the Coronavirus pandemic
