From the Principal Mr Peter Ayoub
I would like to welcome back all of our school community to 2023 with a special welcome to those who are new at Harvest Christian College. Thank you to everyone who has made them all feel welcome. We have a great cohort of students this year and it was such a blessing to see our students
greeting each other and talking positively about the year ahead.
I would like to congratulate our SRC, Prefects and House Captains on winning their leadership positions for 2023. This year we have added Primary School House Captains to our students leadership team and we congratulate Ruby Mildwaters and Marley Halls on winning these positions. Last Thursday our secondary student leadership team took part in an overnight leadership conference in Jamestown where we had special guests speakers talk about the qualities of a good leader and the importance of leading by example. Of course, we have the greatest leader, Jesus Christ, as our example to look up to and guide us in this area.
We learn in the Book of Mark some of the attributes of Jesus’ leadership:
(Mark 10: 44- 45): “Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Great leadership involves self-sacrifice. In Jesus’ case, he not only served those he led, He actually gave his life in service to us by paying the price for man’s sin in dying on a cross.
Leadership is not always easy, and often requires self sacrifice in the way of time, money, effort, care and energy. It was great to see our students discussing the different ways they can serve to make our school an even better place to learn and be a part of.
3 SERVING the Yorke Peninsula for over 20 years
(Timothy 4: 12): Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.
I would like to congratulate
Tiana Rudd on being our highest
achiever for 2022 with an ATAR of 91.50.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our 2022 year 12s on their great results and achievements and also wish all of our current year 12 students the best for the 2023 year.
I look forward to working with our school community again this year and pray that our students, families and staff have a wonderful year together.
