a powerful program for Sydney 2022
Prize winning exchange speakers from Japan, the Netherlands and Belgium will present outcomes from latest studies on assessment and certification of fertility units, early pregnancy failure and hereditary infertility. This will be followed by a Q&A session.
Professor Georgina Chambers, Director of the National Perinatal Epidemiology and Statistics Unit, will outline latest statistics from the Australia and New Zealand Assisted Reproduction Database and forecast what to expect from the data in 2022.
A debate on the role of ICSI will be of special interest with very strongly opposing views presented by pioneers in the field of assisted reproduction, Professors Robert Norman and John Yovich.
A keynote presentation by Dr Angela Lawson, a clinical and forensic psychologist based at the Northwestern Medical Group in the United States, will focus on life and death issues in infertility treatment and ethical and psychological considerations in posthumous conception.
Keynote presentations from the United States will continue on the morning of the last day with acclaimed sociologist, Professor Rosanna Hertz, examining controversies around non- conventional reproduction, and obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr David Keefe, looking at genetic factors in blastocyst failure.
In the following session on andrology, eminent urologist
Dr Craig Niederberger will talk on the management of azoospermia due to spermatogenic dysfunction and Professor Moira O’Bryan will explore genetic factors in male infertility.
The President’s Debate, a traditional highlight of FSANZ meetings, will return to keep delegates on their seats and in good humour in the closing session with outspoken senior and junior members of our Society bouncing around issues on whether the Future Will Always Be Better Than The Past.
The FSANZ conference will be preceded on Saturday 29 January by professional group meetings of FNA, ANZICA, SIRT and Doctors in Assisted Reproductive Technology (DART) with the 28th edition of the Merck Symposium on Sunday addressing the subject Womb for Improvement: Where To Next?
Professor Chapman said the conference dinner at the International Convention Centre on Tuesday night would be a party to remember featuring the FSANZ’s Got Talent show with song and dance acts from selected Society members.
