The incidence of COVID-19 has increased since November 2022 when the Government of the Republic of Indonesia reported a total of 6,627,538 individuals confirmed with the virus.
The Omicron XBB sub-variant – a combination of BA.2.10.1 and BA.275 – has been found with a higher transmission rate compared to other Omicron sub- variants. As a result, the government has introduced a policy to provide booster vaccinations for society.
Some infertile couples were exposed to new variants of COVID-19 infection before they entered assisted reproductive technology programs.
The Indonesian Association for In Vitro Fertilization (IAIVF/PERFITRI) has been active recently conducting a range of meetings including:
• Celebrating 30 Years of ICSI with speakers Dr Maitra D. Wen, Dr Yukhi Kurniawan and Alvien Nir Aini;
• The Role of Endometrium Thickness in IVF Outcomes with speakers Dr Irham Suheimi, Dr Dian Tjahyadi and Dr Hilma Putri Lubis;

• FIGO Ovulatory Disorders Classification System with Dr Kanadi Sumaprja as speaker, Dr Sri Ratna Dwiningsih and Dr Agung Dewanto as panellists, and Professor Wiryawan Permadi as moderator; and
• Best Practices for COH with Gonadotropin in IVF with speakers Professor Samsulhadi, Dr Ruswana Anwar and Dr Agus Supriyadi.
IAIVF/PERFITRI also held the 4th Indonesia Life Meeting LH: Life & Hope with more than 100 participants. It featured international speaker Professor Antonio La Marca and national speakers Professor Budi Wiweko and Dr Aerul Chakra. Professor Hendy Hendarto, Dr Ashon Sa’adi, and Dr Wisnu Setyawan were panellists and Dr Binarwan Halim was chairman.
Meanwhile, many IVF nurses have participated in the ASPIRE education programs, especially the Basic Certificate Course in Management for Nurses, and this has encouraged them to take up membership.
