Number of women of reproductive age continues to fall by 0.6 per cent each year
By Professor Vladislav Korsak, Country Representative
Problems related to infertility and reproductive health in Russia remain crucial.
According to the Chief Specialist on Women’s Reproductive Health, the number of women of reproductive age from 20 to 29 years is decreasing by 0.6 per cent per year, while the peak of the age of delivery has shifted to 30 years.
This has increased the risk of infertility in women and the birth of an unhealthy child. About half of the cases of infant mortality occur in the period of up to 28 days due to perinatal maternal diseases and complications.
In this regard, the urgent task is to better inform citizens about risk factors and measures to preserve reproductive health.
This includes improving early diagnosis and treatment methods, including ART, to restore the reproductive health of women and men.
