Obituary / Death Notices
Mary Samko Sept. 12, 1937—Feb. 25, 2017
was born one of seven children to parents John and Katerina Samko on the family farmstead in Enniskillen, Ontario. Their family immigrated from Slovakia in 1937. She spent her formative years in Petrolia, Ontario and later went on to become a Registered Nursing Assistant. She met and married our father, David John Roy,
in Toronto, where they had their rst child Maryanne - they raised three more children, Craig, Monique and Michelene, in LaSalle, Quebec. Mom was a proud grandmother to Amelia, Carly, and recently to Jason -she always had time, patience and love for her grandchildren.
Mary retired from the Douglas Psychiatric Hospital in Verdun, Quebec, after a long career as a psychiatric RNA. Mom watched her children grow up and re-settle in North Vancouver, Edmonton, and Dubai. She happily moved to Sechelt, BC in 2014 to be re-united with her daughters. Mom was a devout Catholic. She regularly attended St. John Brebeuf Parish in LaSalle. She was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League, Hobby Craft and Meals on Wheels. Mom later became a parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes in Sechelt. We hold dear many memories of our sweet mother; the dancer, the protector of nature and lover of all animals. Mom had a great sense of humour, loved watching the changing weather, shopping and long walks with her daughters, especially Michelene (Nicole) with whom she lived and shared a special bond. She was a nurturing kind hearted person always ready to lend a hand. Mom was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer six weeks prior to her being taken from us. She passed away surrounded by her family. Mom was cremated Feb 28th, 2017. At mom’s request, a memorial service and funeral will be held later this year in Petrolia, Ont. C’est Tout...Merci

Let me show you how to turn this 4-unit apartment into a 5-unit apartment and potentially gross $43,800 per year. Look at the price; where can you buy a 5-plex for this amount!? Easily rented. Buyer could live rent free in one unit and rent the other units while letting the tenants pay for the mortgage. Currently all units are vacant; one bachelor unit, one 1-bdrm unit, one 2-bdrm unit and one 6-bdrm unit that could be turned into 2 separate units. Updates include windows, flashing & newer rubber membrane roof, drywall in common areas, doors in main rooms, mostly new windows, updated electrical, newer fireplace in bachelor apartment.

The family of the late Stanley Arthur Farrow, a resident of Fiddick’s Nursing Home wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many family members, friends and neighbours who offered their love, support and condolences fol- lowing his death. Our heartfelt thanks to every- one for the time they gave generously to help us through our loss and celebrate Stan’s life, in- cluding their attendance at the visitation, funer- al and reception, especially to those who trav- elled a great distance to be with us. Thanks, as well, for the owers and planters, phone calls, cards, condolence messages and many dona- tions received in Stan’s honour. We thank the many people who provided dedicated medical care to Stan, including Dr. E. Daniel, his assis- tant Laura and Dr. R. Singh. Our thanks cannot be expressed enough times to Mike Fiddick’s Nursing Home and his staff, especially the ded- icated registered nurses and personal support workers, dietary and laundry staff, housekeep- ing, activity committee, Shelly and front desk workers. As well, we express our thanks to all the residence and staff on Barclay Lane, where Stan resided. You were so sincere in your concern towards Stan and Dorothy. Thanks to Stan’s honorary pallbearer a true family friend, Jack Riddoch as well as grandsons Steven and Scott Leckie and Andrew Nixon. Sincere thanks to Pastor Bryan Baxter for the memo- rable, meaningful and comforting message during the service. Thanks also to the Smith Funeral Home; your guidance and help during our dif cult time was very much appreciated. Dorothy Farrow, Shirley, Sherry and families.
• THANK YOU •
The family of the late David Bell would like to thank you for all the love and support that you have shown
to us during our di cult time. All the prayers, cards, food, owers and visits were all greatly appreciated. We all knew that David was well loved, however, that was made obvious over the past week. We’d like to extend our sincerest thanks to the Petrolia & Enniskillen Fire Dep’t, E.M.S., and to the sta at C.E.E. Hospital — you did everything you could. Thank you to all the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs that came out for your service.
It was done with much dignity. Many thanks to Steven and the sta at Needham-Jay Funeral Home. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. Finally, to all our family and friends, we could not have made it through without your comfort and support.
Sincerely, Diana Bell and Brian, Tara, and Michael Aiden and Mason
