Helpful Hints for Splinting – Part 1
• Use a pillow case to dry your splint material. It will not leave marks, like a terry cloth towel often does on highly conformable material.
• Curved scissors, such as the Curved Mayo 081272061, make trimming the inside radiuses of your splint a breeze!
• As much as possible, hold the “V” cutting surface of the scissors against the splint material at all times. This will minimize rough edges and reduce edge finishing time.
• Fabricating a hand-based splint? Consider using 1/16th” or 3/32nd” material.
It will be more comfortable and a lighter weight for improved wearing compliance.
