ON DAYTONA BEACH BIKE WEEK
During Daytona Beach Bike Week, here are my thoughts on the ‘must see’, ‘must do’ activities...
If you can't ride, another great way if you are coming from the north is to take the Amtrak Auto Train, leave from Lorton VA just south of DC and arrive in Sanford Fla, 30 miles west of Daytona Beach. Takes almost 1000 miles off the trip, Call 800-USA-Rail for info, a sure bet.
Riding: Some think there is not great riding around Daytona Beach. This is a mistake; there is great riding from the east coast to the west and north to south. Just stay on the back-roads and visit cities, like DeLand, that put out the welcome mat for motorcyclists.
Remember ride safe and watch for animals – day or night. Don’t drink and get on your motorcycle – Just don't do it!! Don't speed – especially never speed on bridges- that's a sucker’s bet. Ride safe and live to enjoy! #
Places to put on your “best to check out” should include the following spots:
March 9-18, 2018
Main Street with all it has to offer, vendors, bars and lots of people;
Right across the bridge from Main Street is Beach Street, great vendors, the Bike Week Welcome Tent and lots of cool places to visit;
Towards International Speedway BLVD/US 92, you will find Moxie Vintage Carouse Antiques and Aberrant Art Gallery – both have cool stuff and the welcome sign is out for motorcyclists;
Krispy Kreme at the corner of US 92 and Nova is our choice for coffee and doughnuts, many meet there to pack bags.
 Daytona Beach is the center of Florida dur- ing Bike Week, at least as far as us riders are con- cerned. And why not? Remember – from Daytona Beach, you can get to anywhere!
Getting to Daytona Beach:
 The Daytona International Speedway on US 92 has a ton of vendors and almost, if not all, of the demos are here. Of course, there’s great races going on along with the J&P Cycles rig and display;
Destination Daytona Beach at I-95 & US Highway 1 in Ormond Beach is full of vendor and most impor- tant has the J & P Cycles Store and FIX motorcycles;
US 1 in Ormond Beach also has a cluster of places to enjoy including the Iron Horse Saloon, great places to kick back and enjoy;
The Daytona Flea and Farmers Market is home to the Jam-On Swap Meet, which is held all week.
LET’S EAT: Here is my list –
Duff’s Buffet, Bellair Plaza 2667 N. Atlantic Ave. Go there hungry and leave full. Many, many great menu items and wonderful staff;
Ultimate Omelet, locals love it, great staff, great food, on Ridgewood Ave, US 1, Northbound side 1.3 miles south of US 92/International Speedway Blvd.;
DAYTONA
Steve's Famous Diner at the southbound side of Atlantic Ave. – two miles North of Main Street- delicious meals, bakery on site, great staff;
