BREAKDOWN Sun Dial Down
MINIMIZE SUN DAMAGE THIS SUMMER WITH THESE TIPS FROM PERFORMANCE’S DR. MICHAEL RIZKALLA.
The sun gives us the burst of energy we’ve been craving, plus the vitamin D we need. But it comes with life- threatening dangers that must be guarded against. Here’s your summer survival guide so you can have fun
in the sun without paying a price.
GET
UNDER IT
BRING ON
Bring an umbrella to the beach or out to the pool to minimize exposure to the sun.
THE H2O
On a normal day, you should be drinking eight 8-ounce glasses of water. In the sun, when you sweat, you need to replace the fluid you’re losing.
APPLY, THEN
RE-APPLY
Unprotected exposure to the sun leads to wrinkles, age spots, and skin cancer.
You need to use a lotion with a high
SPF like 45, and re-apply often, especially if you go in the water.
GOTTA WEAR SHADES
Protect your eyes (while looking great) any time you’re out in direct sun.
