A Commitment to Education
The State of Georgia has embraced its motion picture industry and recognized the need for a well-trained workforce to fill this burgeoning business. Local 479 is committed to meeting the challenge of supplying the industry with trained technicians and in 2014 put great energy into developing an education program that has been met with great enthusiasm by its membership and the professional community. Who is better suited to train the next generation of motion picture technicians than the people who have made this industry their career? We have great plans for our education program in 2015 and invite you to join us!

Local 479 is part of IATSE, an international labor union representing motion picture professionals dedicated to producing high quality feature films and television programs around the world.
Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Local 479 strives to ensure that its members receive the benefits that have been negotiated on their behalf with studios and signatory productions. Those benefits include guaranteed minimum working wages and conditions, access to health insurance coverage for themselves and their families, and protection from employers who may take advantage of employees or put their lives at risk.
