Favorite Thing About Racing is the Relationships
Emily Day grew up going to the racetrack and watch- ing her brother race go carts, and later on, legend cars. After watching him race for so long, she decided that she wanted to try racing herself, so her parents got her a Bandolero. Emily started racing Bandoleros when she was 14 and she ran that for 2 years before advancing to the Legend cars. She had sev- eral wins in the Bando, and in her first year in her Legend car she had several wins and a track championship at Southern National Motorsports Park.
One of her most memorable moments in her racing career would be her first win at Wake County Speedway.
C-Store Services is currently her only marketing part- ner, but she is looking for other companies to partner with her.
Dillion Spain Motorsports sets up and maintains her car for some tracks. She has been able to learn so much from Dillion and he has been great helping her get adjusted and competitive in the Legend car. Her brother and her dad also help with maintaining her other car and work very hard on it, making sure that she can be her best every race. “I definitely have a great group of people supporting me and giving me the best car possible every time I hit the track.” she said.
Emily races at Wake County Speedway, Carteret County Speedway, South- ern National Motorsports Park and other tracks around North Carolina. She races a Legend Car in the Semi-Pro series. She is normally the only woman racing. Her racing goal is to win more races, trav- el around trying different
tracks, and learn more in whatever she is do- ing.
One of her favorite things about rac- ing is all the people she has met and the rela- tionships she has made through racing. Her car is #18, for the date of her birthday and because she has always just liked that number.
She started the race in 4th place with a full field of cars. She took the lead midway through the race, pulled away from the field and never looked back. One thing that made the race so memorable was that she was racing with her brother. She raced him for the lead and ended up getting the win!
