races in the K&N and ARCA Series as well as a few races in the Camping World Truck Series.
Sara’s favorite part of being a race car driver is the passion she has for the sport. “I couldn’t imagine my life without racing. It is a way to let go of other stressors going on in my life and it gives me that adrenaline that always feels so good.” she told us.
We asked her what it means to be a successful race car driver? This was her reply:
“I believe that many things play into someone being a successful race car driver. You need to be fully passionate about racing to become successful. You also need to put in a lot of hard work on and off the track. So many things fac- tor into racing and you have to be willing to commit a large chunk of your life to it to be successful. Unfortunately, mon- ey also plays a factor in race finishes and speed as you need to be in good equipment to do well. This means working hard to get scholarship money. One of her favorite race stories is when she was in quarter midgets, she was running indoors in Columbus Ohio and she was leading when she flipped. “So I went to the tail of the field and came back and won it. It was pretty cool!!!” she shared.
Katie’s future plans for racing is to run NASCAR, but when she is 12 or 13 she would like to get a sponsor and run a late model.

Her car number has been 91 her entire racing career until the most recent car that she is racing. Ninety-one was the number on the first go-kart she ever raced. She didn’t have any other number in mind at the time and it just sort of stuck. However, when they bought this most recent car the number was 21 and she decided it was time for a nice change.
Sara is not superstitious, so she has no race day rou- tine. However when she was young, she would always wear the same clothes or eat the same food for breakfast.
