RISK TAKING
Thoughtful and deliberate actions for which the calculated potential payoff outweighs the calculated possible loss, given the knowledge one has about the circumstances. Students take risks by sharing their ideas in class, by solving problems so we can view and guide their reasoning, and even by challenging arguments. Risk taking for personnel involves employing strategies with which one is not familiar; or employing behaviors that in some way break down traditional class structures, hierarchies, etc. in order to promote modern teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
