Brand Books Are In!!
NEWS from the WSDA certified feedlots.
The 2020 Washington State Brand Books are in. Ev- eryone who pre-ordered their books when they renewed their brand will receive their books by mail shortly. To order a 2020 brand book, please go to our website at agr. wa.gov and enter “Brand Book” in the search box to find the order form. The printed brand book is $30 and the electronic version on compact disc is $12.50.
Horse inspections reduced during COVID-19
Governor Inslee’s Proclamation and the Safe Start Washington, A Phased Approach to Recovery, limit the Livestock Identification Program’s essential business activities during this response to livestock inspections for the maintenance of a safe food supply. Consequently, we are not generally providing inspections for horses because they are not part of the food supply.
We continue to conduct field inspections for all classes of cattle and cattle inspections at public livestock
markets, USDA inspected slaughter facilities, and
Exceptions for horses include inspections that can
be conducted without additional risk of exposure to COVID-19 for our employees and customers and we are adhering to the Washington’s Phased Approach. This includes:
• Inspections for horses co-located with cattle that are being inspected.
• Inspections for horses offered for sale during an approved sale day at a public livestock market.
• Field inspections for horses in counties that have been approved for phase II, III or IV in the Safe Start Washington – A Phased Approach to Recov- ery plan.
Our website has a list of all individuals certified to perform livestock inspections that may be able to pro- vide horse inspections.
