 Letter from the Editor
Who am I? My name is Dillon Duncan. Raised on my grandfather’s pure bred black angus ranch in Ellensburg, I have always maintained close ties to the industry and do my best to stay informed on issues that impact Wash- ington’s cattle producers.
It is with gratitude and good news that I write this letter. Gratitude to the leadership of WCA for allowing me the opportunity to take over as Editor of the Ketch Pen and the good news is... well you’re looking at it! The Ketch Pen has gotten a makeover and we hope you enjoy thumbing through this freshly designed Ketch Pen. You may have noticed the volume number jumped from 40 to 70? While 1980 may have been the year of the first Ketch Pen, 1950 was the year that the original printed publication of the WCA was released. After digging through the WCA archives, we only felt it right to credit the WCA staff and leadership of 1950-1980 by resetting the volume number. We strive to keep this publication filled with relevant con- tent and give our advertisers the best exposure possible, because after all, if it weren’t for our faithful advertisers, this publication would not exist.
I look forward to this new adventure as the Editor of the Ketch Pen, and although I will be on the highway for Texas by the time you’re reading this, my phone line will always be open to anyone involved with the Washington Cattlemen’s Association. We are always looking for relevant articles and good stories, so please, reach out if you’d like to submit anything. Right now we have several premium advertisement spots still available, but they are filling fast for the upcoming issues. We are also putting together an option- al, digital advertising package included with a Ketch Pen advertisement, where your ad would be placed on the website and newsletter with social media packages available too. If you have
any advertising questions, please do no hesitate to reach out. WCA members are eligible for discounts on ad rates. In these crazy times it may be daunting to plan a bull sale. If you have considered using a virtual format or an online sale, it may be more important than ever to advertise. If you would like help reaching your audience, we can help you make that happen.
