Bristol Tradecards/Giveaways
OK, so collecting is not everybodies cup of tea but as an owner since 1968 I collect most things
Bristol and I make no apologies for my obsession with the Marque. In addition to my very extensive
Scale Model collection I also have Bristol car adverts. I did not think there were many “trading
cards” but I was again surprised by the number and variety from around the World. Most are “teac-
ard” sized but not all and they have generally been whitened for presentation here, as a number
of them have “yellowed” with age.
As paper is made from wood, which is made up mainly of white cellulose. Wood also has a
lot of a dark substance in it called lignin, which ends up in the paper along with the cellulose. The
exposure of lignin to air and sunlight is what helps turns paper/card yellow.
