STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
1. Log into EPIC.
2. Schedule a research encounter in EPIC:
Research Administration SOP No: R-Reg-108 SOP Title: Lab Ordering
3. Enter the Order in EPIC:
a. Type in ‘spin and hold’ in the search box. You should only use the order
titles ‘SPIN AND HOLD-STUDY SAMPLE’ b. Complete the fields:
i. Storage Required – Frozen or Ambient
ii. Source – blood, urine, sputum, stool, etc.
iii. Research study code can be retrieved by using the study IRB number (STU xxxxxx-xxx)
