STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE
1. PURPOSE
Research Administration SOP No: E005
SOP Title: On-going Education and Training for Persons Engaged in Human Subjects Research
The purpose of this standard operating procedure (SOP) is to describe the standard procedures to be followed for planning and coordinating on-going education and training opportunities of investigators and/or Children’s Health System of Texas (CHST) Research Administration (RA) research staff.
2. INTRODUCTION
As per Clinical Practice Policy 7.13 “Approval, Training, and Education of the Research Team” researchers and research professionals must receive on-going education and training concerning human subjects research. The Clinical Research Educator (CRE) of the Research Administration (RA) department are an integral part of this strategic priority. In the current state of Pandemic, the current SOP outlines the provision of opportunities for education and training and resources including office hours where have dedicated time to being available for questions or scheduled meetings. The CRE may assist other departments or committees with their on-going education and training plans.
3. SCOPE
This SOP applies to all planning and coordination of on-going education and training on human subjects research by the CRE.
This SOP does not apply to any other education and or training activity planned and coordinated by the CRE covered by other SOPs (e.g., Didactic Virtual Research Classes).
4. RESPONSIBILITIES
The following outlines the RA Research Educator’s responsibilities in this time of Pandemic including ongoing trainings.
4.1 Clinical Research Educators, or interim research education support
To plan, organize, and manage on-going education and training opportunities for all persons engaged in human subjects research at Children’s Health.
4.2 Research Administration Leadership
To review, modify as needed, and approve on-going education and training plans and curricula.
4.3 Other Departments or Committees Requesting Assistance
To submit requests as per this SOP for appropriate review and approval of the CRE’s time and resources.
