INT. KITCHEN - MORNING
Oak table. AGA. Stainless Double-door Fridge. Microwave.
Coffee Machine. Food Processor. Blender. JANE gives AVA, in
her high-chair, a rusk to chew on. REX watches cartoons on
the TV, turned up to full volume.
REX
I’m hungry!
JANE
OK, OK, just give me one minute.
REX stuffs his face with Coco Pops, one eye on the game on
his iPad, the other on a loud cartoon on TV.
JANE (CONT'D)
Please turn it down, Rex.
REX
No! My mum says I can have it on as
loud as I want!
An electric can opener. JANE opens a can of cat food. Shakes
the contents into a bowl. Ollie, an overweight Maine coon, crashes through the cat flap and makes a beeline for it.
INT. UTILITY - MORNING GORGEOUS
The washing machine spins.
INT. KITCHEN - MORNING
TONI, mother of Ava and Rex, wanders in, eight months
pregnant, a former model in her thirties, glued to her phone, followed by a pair of pugs with top knots. She lights a B&H
King Size with a gold Dunhill lighter and sucks in a lungful
of nicotine to kick start the day.
TONI
Jane, be an angel and feed the boys
this morning?
JANE
Of course, Mrs C.
TONI
I’ve got my hands full with this
little brute. Ouch! It’s got a kick
like Jackie Chan.
TONI picks up the remote and changes channel.
