While Lysistrata removes the shackles of war, Euripides removes the tragic shackles of female misrepresentation: male-Mnesilochus fails female- Mnesilochus as much as patriarchy fails females and the demos as a whole. Thus, tragically, male-Mnesilochus falls with a falling Athens receiving back what it gave.
As much as women in the Thesmophoriasuzae are enraged by Euripides’ outrageous claims which disturb the peaceful management of their homes, the Thesmophoriasuzae reveals and envisions a new utopian socio-political “meta- theater:” a new language, a new reality, a new place where “eyes” and “funnels” become the new tracks and traces that participate equally and unboundlessly
