As a result, the wave theory of radiation explains how electromagnetic waves, consisting of light and other forms of radiation, travel through space at the finite speed of light, ~ 300,000 kms/s in a vacuum and slightly less in air or water. It is a colossally successful theory, filled with power to explain and predict the complex interactions between light and matter.9
