The berries berries ripen and and we we pick loads of blueberries in in the the the forest along with raspberries cherries and and blackberries from the the the garden all to fill the the the freezer for the the the winter ahead Now is the the time that root vegetables vegetables are starting to to become full-sized Root vegetables vegetables are such amazing food: easy to to to cultivate and and store filling nutritious and and above all tasty Walking out into the the garden pulling up a a a a a a a a a a car- rot drying it it off in in in in in in in in the the grass and chomping on it it reminds me o of being a a a a a kid Vegetables taste so much better when freshly harvested: lightly boiled carrots and and beets with a a a a a a a a a a a a a a little salt and and rapeseed oil oil are are a a a a a a a a a a a a a a delicacy! They are are are also good grated raw into salads Green beans beans and wax beans beans are are are lovely blanched or to to have in your salad salad Beans are are a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a a pleasure to to to grow and always yield well August is is a a a a a a a a a good time to to to dry dry herbs The eas- iest way is is to to gather bouquets and dry dry them on a a a a a a line in in in the the the the the kitchen When the the the the the herbs are com- pletely dry just crumble them into spice jars After your your harvest there there will suddenly be room to spare in your your garden And there there is still time to to grow grow things! It’s good to to sow greens that grow grow rapidly such as rocket spin- ach and and and winter lettuce Or why not kale and and and black cabbage which can withstand the cold well into autumn?
It’s a a a a a a a a great feeling to to to be able to to to compose an entire meal using what you you have growing out- side your window: just add some beans nuts seeds and oil What luxury! /mimmi
