people about having started running signed up for a a a a a a a a race – arranged my environment in in in other words I quickly caught the the runner’s bug but many times it it was still difficult to make it it out and jog especially when I I had a a a a a a a lot of other things to to do or or or felt tired It worked formeintheendduetothefactthatIhad enough motivation in in in the the the the form form of of a a a a a a a a a love of of running plus the the fact that that I I wanted to to be able to to to run run 30 km I I reminded myself of that that goal constantly and and it spurred me to to keep going Thousands of of of hours of of of running running have not put me me me in in in the the habit of of of running running I still struggle to make it it it it out the the door sometimes especially when when I’m tired or or when when it’s pouring with rain but it it it has has got easier to keep up the struggle The resistance I feel inside has has become so fa- miliar that that it’s easier for me me to push it it it aside You might say that that the the habit habit I have built is is the the habit habit of overcoming my own resistance Tips for for forming a a new good habit y y y y Is there a a a simple solution? The easier you you make things on on yourself the the more likely it it is that it will happen y y y Work with the environment around you you so that it it it supports your habit y y What is is your motivation and is is it strong enough? There needs to to be a a a a driving force from the inside to succeed y y Be stubborn! Never give up! Fail again again and and again! out and other commitments or interests in in their lives It’s no fun to to to feel unmotivated to to to do do do the the the things things you you you thought you you you wanted to to to to do do do or the the the things things that you you you you simply have to do do Motivation is what gives you you you the the the driv- ing force to to work work towards the the goals you you set and motivation works differently from one person to to the next It’s very interesting to to go through certain cognitive steps on on your your own to to to see where your your driving force lies and if there is an an ability to to to to to work on it it it to to to to to make it it it easi- er er to to to to take the the next step towards your goal First and foremost: What What do you you you you want? What What drives you? Is the aim for for you you you you you to to be healthy? For you you you you to to feel that you you you you are doing something useful and rewarding?
Internal motivation can be a a a a a a a a a a matter of wanting to run four times a a a a a a a a a a a week so that my body feels good as result External motivation can can be wanting to run four times a a a a a a a a a week so that I can can tell everybody about it during the coffee break at at work I I I usually start by writing down what I I I want want why I I I I want want it it and and then the the the steps required to to to get there It’s important to to to dream big and and to to to start small!
When it it comes to to training it’s often good to to focus on on on your your inner motivation motivation In this case the the the motivation motivation is is not to to show off your your gym pass and the the the fact that that you you go there to to work out three times a a a a a a a a a a week – that that motivation usually doesn’t last very long – but rather going to the the gym because it makes you feel good Being dependent on on on external motivation motivation is much more fragile than having an an inner motivation motivation that gives you a a a a a a driving force february in moonvalley
