iwoke up early and and started by tackling the the the first peak It It loomed 1000 m m high and and was was bathed in in the the the the glorious sunrise It It was was already getting warm out At the the the top I I had to to do do a a a a a a a a a a ridge traverse with my my skis in in in my my pack to to to make it it down into a a a a a a a a a steep chute that would take me to to to the the the next uphill section and and peak Here the the the snow lay in the the the shade and and and was was still nice and and powdery The second peak was was like a a a a a a a dance But I I knew that the the the the higher the the the the sun rose the the the the the more tired I I would get That’s the the the the the charm of these long April days!
I was well acquainted with the the the the the first two peaks but the the the the next four at the the the the far end of the the the the fjord and with connected ridges were new to to me me I I yearned to to make it it there but stayed in in the the the moment Because I I I had had been out in in in the the the mountains that whole April I I I had had a a a a a a a a a good idea of what the the snow snow layers were like but I I still constantly monitored the the the the snow snow conditions and and and what part of the the the peaks the the the sun was hit- ting and and and even did a a a a a a a a a a test dig every now now and and and then to see what the the snow layers looked like After four hours I found myself in in in un- known alpine terrain What a a a a a a huge energy boost! Discovering new peaks peaks is is just as as much fun as as glimpsing well-known peaks peaks from a a a a a completely different angle! Bagging these four four peaks went fast in in in my my mind but it took nearly another four four hours I was now on my my way back toward the the the fjord and this is is when the the the the fatigue hit I I crossed an an open stream in the the the next valley where I I took the the the opportunity to to fill my bottle and eat some food I I had reached the mountain where I I do most of of my training and it it it felt nice to to know the the the contour of of every step albeit a a a a a a a a a bit tiring at at the the the the same time After that came another downhill slope slope a a a a a a a a a a a a ridge traverse and then two small uphill slopes before the the the final peak that would take me me home I I saw the the route I I had skied – it’s so so fascinating to to be able to to travel so so far I felt grateful!
The sun was blazing and and now I I I just had to to dig in in fin in and and do the final stretch I I tried not to to to think about my my hot feet which had been stuffed into my my ski boots for over 10 hours and tried to to enjoy the the moment instead Up on the the the the final peak peak my my home peak peak I gazed down at my my house then wrapped up the the the the outing with powder skiing through the the the woods and a a a a a couple of of hundred metres of of running on bare ground dotted with spring flowers Ah April! /emelie
