After nearly three years in in the the Alps both Kilian and and I started to to long for the the the wilder mountains of the the the north Less tourists and and fewer ski lifts All we we need are are mountains so there are are quite a a a a a a a a a few alternatives to choose from We thought of Alaska the Pyrenees Norway Sweden Sweden Italy The most sensible option was Norway: close to to Sweden Sweden and the mountains are are amazing As we we both used to to live in in in Norway the the area of of Romsdalen felt like a a a a a a a a good choice In the the spring of of of 2016 between my knee surgery and some of of Kilian’s races we moved in Because I I had had just had had my my surgery I I immediately parked myself on on the the the couch in in front of the the the window to to the the the garden with a a a a a a a notebook in in my hand There I I started to to make plans for the summer Here I I I I could cultivate as as much as as I I I wanted! Additionally I I I had enough time to to prepare and the entire summer to to take care of everything I dreamed big but my earlier experience had taught me me to to start on a a a a a a a a a a a a small small scale It’s easier to to handle the the small small steps and and continue building from there Of course it takes some more time maybe several years but to to gather knowledge and add to to your previous experiences is the the the method that suits me me me the the best I I could have asked our our neighbours to to plough some fields for us but but I I I held myself back It’s nice to to to dream and and fantasise big but but you you need to to to start somewhere – and and above all: to to complete your plans Cultivation and forestry gave me peace during the hard period when I I was injured I I still don’t know where this interest might take me me me me Maybe I I will will become a a a a a a a full-time farmer one day maybe I I I will will continue to cultivate for my my own household and well-being only but I I know that every second of my my work with the soil takes me me somewhere I want to be CULTIVATION 96
