This bottle was recently dug, much to the understandably great excitement of the unsuspecting “South of the country” digger. A complete change what had previously been found on the particular site .
151. ABERSYCHAN & PONTYPOOL OLD WOUND OINTMENT POT LID. 2.6ins square. A scarce two town South Walian ointment offering - dug on the South coast of England! Nice ornate scrolling around eight lines of lettering, with double line outer border. Slim bottom edge flake otherwise fine. 8.5/10. NR. £80-120+

Very boldly embossed
lettering and safe detail.
Superb colour and
condition - small burst
air bubble doesn’t really
detract - it’s a belter,
an all time classic!

A great finale to 2021 and something of a highlight for the discoverer after so many years of painstaking and diligent dump digging in his area. Picture shows it ‘as found’, pulled from the ground - no damages, a simple wipe with a damp cloth and it came up shining brightly!
